  • Holidays

Thanksgiving was nice. Mom came over and all the "kids", (pets), got their share of turkey. I think a bit too much...they were all sleeping belly up by the end of the night.

Looking forward to Christmas....my favorite time of year. Working on Christmas cards and Christmas letter.

Feeling a bit run down lately. Might have a slight bug. I have been feeling pretty good.  I think it's all the rushing around for the holidays. I have my hemoglobin count, (blood count), checked on the 13th along with a check up.

So far...nothing wrong with my ICD. I think I was one of the lucky ones that didn't receive a recalled unit. Keeping fingers crossed. I have managed to stay out of the hospital for 7 weeks now...thats the longest stretch in 2 years.

  • Recall on my ICD for my heart

Just when you think you can breath and rest for a while....something else happens.  Got a letter from my cardiologist that there has been a recall on my Medtronic ICD that keeps my heart beating.  My right ventricular lead needs to be adjusted.  Hopefully it won't have to be done surgically....maybe transtelephonically.

Will find out in a few weeks.

  • New Hope

Finally home from the hospital after spending all of September, (except for a week), in the hospital. My Dr's. think they may have found the cause of my internal bleeding problem. Some sutures from a previous stomach surgery were scraping and repeatedly breaking open an ulcer causing it to bleed uncontrollably.

After 8 months of in and out of the hospital, I have a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted to keep my heart beating, a stent placed due to the heart attack I had on Easter morning, several more blood transfusions, an incredibly painful stomach surgery....I am soooooooooooo done. We are all saying our prayers and keeping our fingers crossed.  I still feel like crap but they say that will take time.  Almost 3 years of bleeding and blood transfusions and congestive heart failure, I guess it will take a while to feel almost human. I am just glad to be alive. In March I had 2 months to live. Now I can look more forward to the future.

Thanks to my wonderful  husband, my Mom, and my husband's family, I have had a great support group.

  • Day 6 in Hospital

It is day 6 in the hospital. I am having surgery tomorrow and I am a bit nervous. After 3 years of losing blood some where inside and receiving blood transfusions every couple of months....the last resort after all the testing is surgery to find out where it is coming from.  They might have to remove my old stomach from the gastric bypass surgery I had in 2002. I have had nothing but health problems since the weight loss surgery.

I got lucky by getting some really awesome doctors. My cardiologist basically saved my life. I was diagnosed with heart failure in March 2007. I had a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted to keep my heart beating. On Easter Sunday I had a heart attack. I had another heart surgery and made it through that. They said it was a birth defect undetected all these years.

Needless to say....the hospital has become my 2nd home. I have met some really nice people here though. Thank God for wireless internet!  I would be going outta my mind with boredom!
